The trials and tribulations of our teenage years is rarely without it's pros and cons and we are reminded of how relevant this is in Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios' 'Inside Out 2'. We once again are given an in depth look into the ever expanding mind of Riley Andersen and her colorful cast of emotions: Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Liza Lapira) and Fear (Tony Hale), as they are joined by newcomer emotions Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser) and Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos). I can be the first to say that whenever a sequel to a memorable film is released, I can't help but feel the very same emotion that I now associate with the little orange character who perfectly personified her namesake. I am happy to say that my own anxiety was allayed by the fact that 'Inside Out 2' rivals, if not exceeds, the previous installment with it's added characters, clever writing, spot-on comedy and overall message about how we perceive ourselves. What 'Inside Out 2' continued to succeed at, just as the original had, was getting the audience to see their own experiences (the good and the bad) in the character of Riley Andersen. We relate so much to both her and her emotions on such a personal level and the depths it reaches has helped to catapult the film into a massive worldwide hit. #animation #film #disney #pixar #sequel #insideout

Sometimes when I need to step back from the stresses of life and relax the mind, I often find solace in my previous experiences drawing illustrations of various objects and places. A recent addition to my portfolio is a stylized portrait of the Duomo Cathedral in Florence (a subtle nod to one of my favorite horror films Silence of the Lambs). It never seems to amaze me how a person, place or thing can be created from pencil to paper with such dedicated time and care. #art #illustration #italy #picture

We've all heard the phrase, "Do you live under a rock?" before, but even if someone did, even they would know about this jarring view into the documentary that continues to captivate the world and send ripples in the entertainment industry. The crime documentary "Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV", which premiered weeks ago, has brought mass awareness to a world of scandal, exploitation, racial profiling, hostile work environments and child endangerment that went on at what was considered to be Nickelodeon's golden age of adolescent/teen television programs such as All That, The Amanda Show, Drake and Josh and Zoey 101. To me personally, having grown up with these shows in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s, it would be an understatement to say that my bubble wasn't burst: it was obliterated. There had been hints and rumors that had long circulated before, but what could be considered to be mere rumor is a rumor no more. Hearing the harrowing accounts of Drake Bell, Giovonnie Samuels, Bryan Hearne and Alexa Nikolas (among many others featured) struck me to my core as I remember clearly how as a child I would imagine myself in the credits of these shows, pretending that I was part of this supposedly perfect world. The fact of the matter brings to mind the saying "You can roll manure in powdered sugar but it still won't be a jelly donut". We can no longer ask ourselves IF there is going to be any changes to prevent such unacceptable conduct, it is a matter of making those changes now. For the time being, I send my support and heartfelt thoughts to those who endured what can only be described as a nightmare.

To celebrate April Fools Day, a fun fact for all! In the world of voice-over there is hardly ever opportunity for pranks, especially when it can go incredibly wrong. This could not be any more so than one such occurrence that had all the atmosphere of a prank but was never intended as such. The event in question was the 1938 radio drama of 'War of the Worlds' starring the legendary Orson Wells for the CBS Radio network. What started as a harmless reading of the novel by H.G. Wells would transform into a moment of hysteria for listeners who tuned in unaware of the broadcast's fictional content. Although the extent of the panic that resulted from the event has never been definitively known, what we do know is the bizarre misunderstanding made it's mark in broadcast history as what I like to call, "The biggest prank that never was". #aprilfools #radio #broadcast #voiceover #orsonwells #history #funfact
